Personal preferences will vary.

???  Have you played with GNOME's key bindings?  You can do a lot with
defaults, let alone after changing various keybindings.

I'd avoid saying what GNOME can and can't do if you don't know.  ;->

I often use the binding Alt-Fx to send windows to different virtual
desktops.

[ This is why I don't like these threads, they turn into people assuming
what they don't use can't do, counter-responses, etc...  Kinda the same
problem with distro threads. ]

Again, personal preferences will vary.

P.S.  With all that said, I agree with another poster about KDE being
"the best" for people coming from Windows.  I typically recommend GNOME
more for people coming from MacOS X.
