Mandrake 9.2 Linux
GIMP 1.2.3

[Procedure for retrieving JPG files from camera]
(1) Connect camera to USB
(2) Make directory to put pictures
As root
(3) /sbin/modprobe usb-storage
(4) mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/removable
(5) /etc/rc.d/init.d/usb start
(6) mv /mnt/removable/dcim/100media/*.jpg (new directory - see item 2)
(7) umount /mnt/removable
(8) chown -R fredjame:fredjame (new directory - see item 2)
As self
(9) view images in GIMP

[Problem]
Photos taken at high resolution come out "banded" - first part looks 
like it might be OK, then it breaks into bands of image fragments and 
different colors.
Phots taken at low resolution come out fine.
