I had the same thing happen as well.  A member of this list had advertised 
the need for some work to be done for one of their clients.  After working 
for their client for a several weeks, there was an invoice that was not 
paid in full.  Eventually I had to write it off as a bad debt.

Without a doubt, if they post a job again, I will send a warning to the 
jobs board, and the moderator.

Ethical behavior is to be encouraged, not the other way around.
