I was looking at an HP machine...and all the ones I see in stores are
now Vista/

That's not an option - I need fast access to 3D rendering under both
Linux and Windows and going through extra layers of driver would kill
me.

I don't mind the reboot time - but I need real, bare-to-the-metal
Linux.

So are you saying that dual booting with Vista is either not possible
or unproven right now?
